Episcopalians have been sharing in the life and ministry of Victoria County since Trinity’s founding in a house church in 1848.
Officially organized as a Parish in 1869, the first building was constructed at Liberty and Goodwin Streets. In 1885, the congregation relocated to Forrest and Bridge Streets. Growth and vision prompted the church to move to its current location on Glass Street in the 1950s, where it has now expanded to 3 blocks in the Downtown area.
In 1954, Trinity Episcopal School was established as an outreach of the Church. It has grown to be the largest ministry of the Church, allowing students to be brought up in an excellent educational community surrounded and guided by the Love of Christ. In 2024, the Church and School expanded their footprint with a state of the art 22 classroom building on San Antonio and Moody Streets, allowing the nearly 300 students of the school to be all hosted under one roof.
The beauty of our Sanctuary, a holy and dedicated space for the worship of God, is of course important. However, the Church is, in truth, God’s people—the living temple of the Holy Spirit. As the Body of Christ, we are called to continue his work of healing, reconciliation, and service to all we encounter. We give thanks for the work of Trinity in this community for more than 150 years of faithful stewardship and vision. With hope and anticipation, we look to the future mission of radical welcome, sharing divine Love, and proclaiming the Good News. Rooted in the Episcopal tradition, we affirm that there is a place at the Table for everyone—regardless of age, denomination, background, or tradition—as together we serve God’s people and bear witness to Christ’s reconciling Love.
