FAQs

We know that visiting a new church or school often comes with questions, and we’re here to help. Our Frequently Asked Questions page is designed to make your experience at Trinity Episcopal Church & School as welcoming and easy as possible. Here, you’ll find helpful information about what to expect, how to get involved, and the many ways to connect with our community. If you don’t see your question answered, we invite you to reach out—we’d love to hear from you and help you feel right at home.

What can I expect when I visit?

Expect a friendly and welcoming community of Disciples and Seekers connecting in prayer, song, scripture, and Sacramental worship. We are grateful for the chance to show you hospitality, whether this is your first time in church or at Trinity, or your first time back in a while.  Trinity welcomes you!

Worship in the Episcopal Church follows the pattern of worship from the Book of Common Prayer. Our services consist of 2 parts: the Liturgy of the Word (including hearing scripture from the Old and New Testaments, Psalms, Sermon, Creed, and Prayers) and the Liturgy of the Table (Celebration of the Holy Eucharist). For more information about our style of worship at services, see our Sunday Schedule.

The structure of our liturgy allows participation as a member of the Body of Christ. While the liturgy may feel a bit foreign to some, the invitation is to take part in the collective prayers for all of God’s beloved. We offer prayers and praises, confession and absolution, and then come together to the Table to share in the Eucharist TOGETHER.

Our sanctuary address is 1501 N Glass St. There is a parking lot behind on Moody St, with access to the sanctuary through the church office entry or through the Courtyard. Many of our congregation park on the street surrounding the block.

Absolutely not! All are welcome to join us for worship. There are no pre-request beliefs or expectations, just those seeking or curious about connecting deeper with the Love of God.

Holy Communion is a gift to the Body of Christ, the Church. Therefore, we invite the entire Body of Christ, regardless of your age, denomination, background, or tradition, to receive the Eucharist every time it is offered at Trinity.

We receive Communion in 2 kinds: the Bread (wafers) and the Cup (wine). We believe Christ is fully present in both the Bread and Wine, so please participate as you are able and willing.

If, for any reason, you do not wish to receive Communion, you are invited to come forward to the Altar railing for a blessing.

Gluten-free wafers are available upon request. Please let an usher know before the service so we can consecrate enough to accommodate. GF wafers are kept on a separate plate to avoid cross-contamination, just ask the priest when they come to you at the rail.

You should dress in whatever way makes you most comfortable for worship. At Trinity, you’ll see everything from jeans and Crocs to suits and dresses. You are encouraged to be authentic here, so wear what you feel comfortable coming to grow in your faith! God meets us where we are, and certainly cares much more about our hearts than our outfits!

Children are always welcome at Trinity in whatever way their family is comfortable! Kids and their squeaks are a sign of life we welcome in our worship. If liturgy is not their speed, there are some options!

A fully staffed and trained Nursery is available from 8 am till the end of the 10:30 am Service for infants through 3 years old. Children’s Chapel for kids PK4 through 2nd Grade is held during the first part of the 10:30 Service, where they’ll hear a story and participate in a craft and snack. They are brought back in to the service at the Peace and welcomed to the Altar for Communion.

Students in 3rd grade and above can be trained to serve as acolytes and readers for our Services as they are comfortable and willing.

Our 8 AM service normally runs about 45 minutes. Breakfast and coffee are served in the Parish Hall after service.

Our 10:30 AM service normally runs about 60 minutes. Coffee, lemonade, and donuts are served before the service in front of the Sanctuary. Often, there are popsicles and conversation just outside the doors.

No, visitors will never be singled out during our worship services! Do expect that someone will recognize you as a visitor and introduce themselves in welcome. We are a warm community happy to help you feel comfortable during your visit. Please participate as you are comfortable!

If you’d like to know more about Trinity, you are encouraged to fill out a visitor card found in the pew backs. There, you’ll give us the best way to contact you, and we will follow up shortly after your visit (but not that same day!).

You can also contact the church office with any questions you may have at 361.573.3228. The office is open Monday to Thursday 8-4, and Fridays 8-Noon.

Trinity Episcopal Church and School is a diverse and inclusive community that values faith, connection, and service in Victoria and throughout the world.  The Episcopal Church follows Jesus Christ using the “three-legged stool” of the Movement of the Holy Spirit in the teachings of Holy Scripture, a long and storied tradition of the church universal, and the understanding of reason in our current day and age as our guide.
