What to Expect
Worship at Trinity Episcopal Church follows the rich and sacred rhythm of the Book of Common Prayer, the foundational guide for Episcopal worship. Rooted in centuries of Christian tradition, our services invite all to participate in prayer, reflection, and communion with God and one another. Each gathering centers on two main parts: the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Table. In the Liturgy of the Word, we listen to readings from Scripture—including passages from the Old and New Testaments, Psalms, and the Gospels—followed by a sermon, the recitation of the Creed, and the Prayers of the People. The Liturgy of the Table then leads us into the Holy Eucharist, where we share in the bread and wine as symbols of Christ’s presence and love among us.
This structure not only shapes our worship but also reminds us that we are part of something much larger than ourselves. The liturgy calls us into active participation as members of the Body of Christ—speaking, singing, listening, and responding together as one community of faith. Every word and action is meant to draw us deeper into the mystery of God’s grace and into connection with those who gather beside us.
For those who are new to Episcopal worship, the liturgy may at first feel unfamiliar. You may notice moments of standing, sitting, kneeling, or spoken responses woven throughout the service. Don’t worry if it’s new to you—simply listen, observe, and join in as you feel comfortable. Our worship bulletins are easy to follow, and our congregation is always happy to help guide you. In time, many find that the pattern and beauty of the liturgy create a deep sense of peace, belonging, and connection with God.
At the heart of our worship is the understanding that we come before God together—not as individuals seeking perfection, but as a community offering our hearts in prayer, confession, thanksgiving, and praise. In the Eucharist, we are reminded that all are welcome at God’s table. It is here that we are fed, forgiven, and renewed for service in the world.
Ultimately, worship at Trinity is about more than ritual; it’s about relationship—our relationship with God, with one another, and with the world we are called to love. The liturgy grounds us in faith, centers us in grace, and sends us forth in joy. Whether you have worshiped in the Episcopal Church for years or are joining us for the first time, we hope you will find meaning, beauty, and welcome in our shared prayer and praise.
